An applicant may be at any stage of his/her career development, but must hold a faculty appointment at a Canadian medical school.
Each grant is payable to the recipient’s hospital or research institute up to the maximum amount listed below. It is for a one-year term, dispersed in two equal installments from the Canadian Anesthesia Research Foundation (CARF).
Dr R A Gordon Research Award for Innovation in Patient Safety – up to $40,000
This award is an open award for research that focuses on innovation in patient safety; all applicants under the New Investigator Operating Grants and the Subspecialty Operating Grants are also considered.

The Canadian Journal of Anesthesia Research Award – up to $30,000
This is an operating grant to fund a clinically related research project in anesthesia, pain, perioperative medicine, critical care or any other anesthesia subspecialty.
