
Dr Rashiq is an Anesthesiologist and Pain Medicine Specialist at the University of Alberta Hospitals in Edmonton, Alberta, and a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. He was born in London, obtained his medical degree from University of Nottingham in the UK and completed his anesthesia training at the University of Alberta.
He was a Fellow in Pain Medicine at the University of Washington’s Multidisciplinary Pain Center and obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health. He served as a volunteer anesthetist on 10 consecutive annual short-term missions to Ecuador, has been a CASIEF volunteer teacher in Guyana, and serves on the CASIEF Board.
He was a member of the Editorial Board of the CJA for nine years and has been an Examiner in Pain Medicine for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He became the Alberta Divisional representative to the CAS Board in 2020. He cycles to work when the weather is fine.
