President's Message - 2024

Thank you for supporting CAS with your membership to date. Membership renewal for 2024 is now open! Your support enables us to advocate on your behalf for our specialty and for our patients. We represent Canadian anesthesia when talking to government decision makers, Health Canada and the media about important issues such as the anesthesiologist shortage, equipment/medication supply chain challenges and environmental sustainability. Your membership also provides you with benefits such as access to safety bulletins and other timely announcements quality CME, the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia and discounted access to our Annual Meeting. Additionally, you are an integral part of the Canadian anesthesia community, with wonderful opportunities to network with your colleagues from coast to coast.  

We all have numerous organizations competing for our hard-earned dollars every year. I hope that you continue to choose CAS membership as a valuable investment, both for your individual and our collective gain. Given that our organizational strength comes from a solid membership foundation, I encourage you to promote membership amongst your colleagues. If you have any interest in becoming more involved with national level initiatives and further career development, consider joining a CAS committee and/or section. 

Membership renewal is also the perfect time to consider donating to our CAS foundations: the Canadian Anesthesia Research Foundation (CARF) and the CAS International Education Foundation (CASIEF) Both organizations do remarkable and important work to contribute to quality anesthesia care worldwide and the future of our specialty. Finally, we welcome your feedback/ideas on how we can best meet your membership needs.
