Awards & Grants

For more than half a century, we have made it our mission to recognize, promote and foster excellence in anesthesia through our award programs.

Each year, on the final day of the CAS Annual Meeting, anesthesiologists celebrate the achievements and contributions of their peers during a ceremony dedicated to those who have made significant contributions to the practice, teaching and advancement of anesthesia.

Did you know?

  • The Gold Medal was first presented in 1962. The winners were W Bourne, HR Griffith, and HJ Shields.
  • The Resident’s Program (competition) was inaugurated in 1967.
  • The fist CAS Research Award was presented in 1985 to Dr H Nathan.
  • The Medical Student Prize was first awarded in 2001.
