2025 Ace It! A Prep Course for the Royal College Exam (Written Course)

CAS is very excited to be bringing our Royal College anesthesia certification exam preparation course back. Residents are invited to take part in this intensive two-day course designed to help exam candidates study more effectively while strengthening their confidence.

Written Exam Course (Friday, June 57:30 am – 5:15 pm)
Benefit from 14 interactive lectures on anesthesia sub-specialty topics and Royal College exam focus areas led by past examiners and recently certified graduates. To maximize the value of each lecture, all registrants will be asked to complete a +100 multiple choice pre-test between April 24 and May 10, 2026. Lecturers will adjust their presentation to focus on areas where the class struggled, and a post-test will be circulated after the Annual Meeting to enhance knowledge retention.

Oral Exam Course (Saturday, June 6, 8:15 am – 10:15 am)
Groups of four will prepare for the oral exam through a problem-based learning discussion (PBLD) led by past examiners and recently certified graduates. Each participant will have 15–20 minutes to respond to a question based on the real exam and receive facilitator feedback.

2025 Residents' Panel: Oh The Places You'll Go: A Panel on Unique Fellowship Opportunities

Anesthesiology residents face unique stressors: high-acuity cases, unpredictable hours, individual work, and the emotional toll of critical care and perioperative medicine. While wellness is widely discussed among physicians, many anesthesia residents still struggle to translate general concepts into actionable habits. This session is designed to bridge that gap through short, tangible, evidence-informed strategies. Panelists will delve into key dimensions of wellness including:

  • Optimizing sleep for work performance and recovery
  • Developing routines to manage burnout and build resilience
  • Integrating exercise and movement into a demanding schedule
  • Financial planning to reduce stress and improve quality of life.
