Residents

Anesthesia residents are the future of the profession. CAS aims to support residents in their anesthesia journey by providing them with complimentary CAS membership during their studies. In addition, we aim to provide a forum for resident connection and learning through the Residents Section.

SITES AIMED AT ANESTHESIA TRAINEES AND TEACHERS

Perioperative Interactive Education (Canada) has award-winning interactive simulation tools. A valuable resource for medical students, residents and teachers, anesthesia assistants, and anyone who wants to see physiology in action. New modules are added at regular intervals.

The same group has also developed a number of online interactive teaching tools to aid for anesthesia trainees – including staff upgrading their TEE and regional ultrasound skills.

VirtualTEE: Designed for use by educators and students of two-dimensional TEE. 

Virtual Liver: Provides an in-depth, interactive, 3D look at the liver.

Cardiac Embryology: Facilitates the teaching and learning of cardiac embryology.

Virtual spine: Facilitates the teaching and learning of Spine Anatomy and Regional Anesthesia of the Spine.

The Center for Simulation, Safety and Advanced Learning Technology at the University of Florida hosts a large number of simulations and airway device videos for anesthesiology trainees and educators. A large number of pharmacokinetic, physiologic, and simulations related to the anesthesia machine is offered. These award-winning simulations are advanced and very helpful to explain some integrated concepts. The site also has a video library of different airway devices.

Capnography.com: The fifth edition of this excellent website is solely dedicated to teaching current understanding and concepts of capnography. It has been described to be equivalent to a dynamic text book on capnography, but unlike a textbook, this site undergoes frequent updates on monthly basis.

EKG Learning Center 

Formed in 1995, the CAS Residents' Section creates social and academic programming for residents for annual CAS conferences and beyond. The goals of the section are to facilitate a community of Canadian anesthesiology residents, connect residents with CAS, represent residents at the annual meeting, and create programming relevant to residents.
