After a hiatus due to the pandemic, the CAS Residents Section is thrilled to be planning the 4th Annual CAS Resident Simulation Olympics. This is a friendly competition run by the CAS Residents Section for the CAS anesthesia resident community.
Resident teams from across the country will compete through critical event simulations, held at the SIM Centre at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Top teams from round one will compete in the final round to crown one team the winner of the 2024 CAS Resident Simulation Olympics. Teams will compete before judges in simulated scenarios, they will be evaluated on both technical and non-technical skills. When not competing, residents will have a chance to network with their peers, take part in fun jeopardy competitions, and try out virtual reality headsets from Drager. It is a chance for residents to get to know their peers from across the country while learning and competing.
Prize: $1000* provided by the CAS Simulation and Education Section
*$1000 CDN prize is to be distributed evenly amongst the winning team

Team Size: Teams can consist of 2-4 CAS Resident Members. Create your own team or sign-up solo and you will be placed on one. If registering as a team, only a team registration is required.

1:00 - 1:30 p.m. - Registration and introduction

1:30 - 3:30 p.m. – Round #1 – SIM Olympics & Jeopardy/Virtual Reality Headsets. Each scenario is 30 minutes (20-minute scenario plus 10 minutes of feedback). Each team will complete one scenario.
