Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

The Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society (CAS) values equity and inclusion and considers it fundamental to the success of the organization. The CAS recognizes that persistent historical, structural, cultural and political inequities and barriers to equitable participation exist and are well documented in society. These individual, interpersonal and systemic biases contribute to the marginalization of designated groups.

The CAS Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee is an advisory committee to the CAS Board, committees, sections and other CAS volunteer groups which may be created. They are tasked with providing guidance and acting as a sounding board for the Society when issues or improvements related to EDI arise.

CAS AND ACUDA JOINT STATEMENT ON DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

The CAS and ACUDA Joint Statement on Diversity and Inclusion acknowledges that both organizations recognize and value diversity in all aspects of our work and the profession. Diversity is a source of strength that can only be fully realized through equitable and inclusive involvement of all. The statement promotes that every person has the right to be accepted and treated with respect and dignity. It is expected that all society and ACUDA Board and committee members, staff, CAS members, and volunteers will model, promote, and comply with these principles.
