Dr Darcy Bishop

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Dr Darcy Bishop took an unconventional path to medicine, one that wove through diverse academic disciplines and professional roles before leading him to medical school. After completing his residency in Anesthesiology at Dalhousie University, he joined the team at Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) in Kentville, Nova Scotia, in 2013. He now serves as Zone Chief for the Western Zone Department of Anesthesia with Nova Scotia Health and holds an academic appointment with Dalhousie University. He previously served as Chief of Anesthesia at VRH.

A strong advocate for education, patient-centered care, physician wellness, and collaborative leadership, Dr Bishop brings curiosity and intention to every aspect of his practice. His wide-ranging background and leadership experience give him a unique and thoughtful perspective on the evolving challenges and opportunities within anesthesiology.

Beyond the hospital, Dr Bishop enjoys an active, family-focused life with his wife, Devon, their three energetic young children, two dogs, and a cat. Together, they make the most of rural Nova Scotia’s natural beauty and outdoor lifestyle.
