PUBLIC awareness

CAS' public awareness activities underpin all of our advocacy work including human health resources (HHR) issues, sustainable anesthesia, access to quality care for all patients, patient safety, and more. Broadening a general understanding of these complex challenges is essential to driving support for safe and practical long-term solutions, which CAS advocates for, on behalf of our members, year-round. CAS continues to actively promote the work of our members through ongoing communications campaigns across all of our digital platforms and we encourage members to share this work with their networks.

This section of our website educates patients and their loved ones about the many roles anesthesia care providers play in our healthcare system and includes information on what anesthesiologists do, how different types of anesthesia works, and unpacking anesthesia risk and myths. It also provides information for patients preparing for an operation including what to expect before, during, and after surgery, and how to get involved in supporting perioperative care and patient safety.
